Our relationship with the military goes back to 1895, when General Order No. 46 established the concept for what became the Exchange. Our job is to serve the Army and Air Force active duty servicemen and women. Wherever they are. Wherever they go. We also serve their dependents, retired military members, the Guard and Reserve.

The Exchange does even more. With more than 40,000 jobs, we are doing our part not only to employ veterans, but also to provide opportunities.

"The Exchange doesn't just hire current and former members of the military community in jobs — we offer careers in service and support," said Exchange's Chief of Staff. "It's just a natural fit. Veterans, spouses and dependents know our customers better than anyone."

We are partnered with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Warfighter (OWF) Program, Feds Hire Vets, the Texas Veterans' Commission and Joining Forces initiative to assist veterans in their civilian lives.

Additionally, partnerships with the Operation Warfighter (OWF) Program and Feds Hire Vets initiative give the Exchange increased visibility.

Retail Management Training Programs

Veterans can also apply for our Retail (RMT) and Advanced Retail (ARMT) management training programs, which take a variety of candidates – from limited retail knowledge to extensive experience in the retail industry. Upon successful completion, participants are assigned to managerial role, which could include Store Manager, Branch Store Manager, Sales Area Manager or Stockroom Manager.
