
| The Fort Polk Exchange
is located at the Fort Polk Army Post in Vernon Parish in Southwest
Louisiana. The Fort Polk Exchange serves the men and women of the
Warrior Brigade, 4/10th Moutain, Operation Group, MEDDAC, DENTAC and
Garrison Command, and the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort
Polk exist to train, improve and upgrade the battle skills required of the
men and women of the military services today and into the 21st Century. The Exchange employs 131 civilians, 143 military dependents and 23 retired military/family members. The Exchange participates annually in the post-sponsored retiree's activities, Articles of interest are routinely place in the Post Newspaper so we can keep our customers up to date and informed of changes and on programs within AAFES. The Fort Polk Exchange recently completed its renovation to include a new lighting project. It's "new look" and increased selection of merchandise in HBC, Electronics, Computers, Computer Software and Pets has had a positive feedback from its customers. It stocks more than 68,500 assorted items and is open seven days a week. The facility is under a central mall theme for shoppers' convenience. The complex contains a Nutrition Center, Beauty Shop, Barber Shop, T-shirt Shop, Optical Shop, Flower Shop, Wireless Communications and a new GNG Silver Trumpet Gift Shop. To satisfy even the hungriest shopper's appetite we have BK-Express, Robin Hood, Anthony's Pizza, Gourmet Coffee and newly opened Charley's Steakery are available. The Class XI is located right beside the mall complex. The Fort Polk Main PX has expanded 11,200 Sq. Ft to become a Pxtra. The Main Store and formerly known Home & Garden Store merged on May 15, 1999 to offer its customers a one stop shopping environment. This project has been in the mix for quiet sometime and now its here for the customers. Military Clothing Sales is located on 9th Street, building 1455, accommodating JRTC and ROTC units in Central Louisiana and Southeast Texas. The Fort Polk Furniture Store has moved to its new location building 1455, next door to MCSS. The building was renovated and remodeled giving it more space for a greater selection of merchandise. AAFES has numerous projects planned for Ft. Polk's future. New mini malls and shoppettes are at the top of the priority list. This year, the Fort Polk Exchange will contribute $1,168,765 to MWR. The dividends AAFES contributes to MWR programs directly support the mission readiness of military members by enhancing individual fitness and unit cohesion. AAFES not only saves customers money by offering low prices in the exchange, but it invests their money back into the quality of life programs that make living and working on the installation more pleasant. For these reasons, the mission of AAFES at JRTC/ Fort Polk is to provide the most efficient, courteous and professional support possible to every member of the military community.
