San Antonio Culture

Lackland AFB, the "Gateway to the Air Force," has become one of the most culturally diverse training installations in the United States. While much of Lackland's diversity and growth is due to its training missions, the overall festive atmosphere is created and sustained by its mostly hispanic civilian workforce. The city of San Antonio with its rich Mexican culture, heritage, history, music (traditional and Tejano), Cinco de Mayo and Alamo Memorial Day celebrations, just to name a few, has influenced AAFES and Lackland Exchange Management for years.

The Lackland GM's and Main Store Managers, past and present, have all contributed to and promoted the continuance of the Lackland Exchange cultural experience. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the interior mall design and the exterior "mission" style construction of the new Lackland Main Store/BXtra facilities. As an authorized patron and preferred customer, please accept our invitation to come and enjoy the unique Lackland AFB and AAFES Base Exchange experience. Let us serve you and your family, as we treat you to a special and unforgettable AAFES shopping trip.
