| The Barksdale AFB Exchange is located at the
Barksdale AFB in Bossier Parish in Northwest Louisiana. The Barksdale
Exchange serves the men and women of the 2nd Bomb Wing, 8th Air Force and
the largest tactical fighter wing in the Air Force Reserve - the 917th Wing.
The Exchange currently employs 230 civilians, military dependents and
military members, which include veterans, retirees, reservists and active
duty members. The employees have always taken pride in providing the best
customer service possible. As a result of their efforts Barksdale Exchange
has received the Alamo Exchange Region Best Exchange Award and Central
Region's Extraordinary Customer Service Award. Barksdale’s Main BX is located at 455 Curtiss Avenue. This one stop shopping facility is open seven days a week under a central mall theme for shoppers’ convenience. Departments include clothing, shoes, linens, giftware, furniture, large appliances, sporting goods, ammunition and firearms, pet supplies, lawn and garden, stationary, electronics, jewelry, hardware, health & beauty aides, cosmetics and toys. To satisfy the hungriest shopper there is a large food court that offers Anthony’s Pizza, Charley’s Steakery and Robin Hood. Also included in the mall area is a barber shop, beauty shop, flower shop, laundry/dry cleaners, GNC nutritional shop, candy shop, optical, embroidery and Alltel cellular service.. A Starbucks will be added to the BX Mall in late 2007. The Base Refill Pharmacy is also located at the Main BX and offers a drive-thru as well as walk in access. For hours of operation and phone numbers please see the Information section of the Barksdale Website. Burger King is located at Bldg 4250, behind the base library and next to Chapel #2. Renovations to this facility in 1999 included increased seating, adding an atrium and an improved drive thru and parking lot. The MCSS is located adjacent to the Car Care Center on Wilbur Wright Avenue. Service members have no problem replacing a uniform item, as the MCSS is located near the dorm area. The clothing sales expands its customer base by providing uniforms to JROTC in the ARKLATEX area to include Grambling University and LSUS Senior ROTC units. The Car Care Center is a combination Shoppette, Class VI and Service Station under one roof and open seven days a week. The service bay is open Monday through Saturday only and offers oil changes, battery replacement and tire mounting. The facility has 16 pumps equipped with island credit readers for customer convenience. 24 Hour service is available at pumps 7 through 11 with a debit/credit card. Eight miles from the Main Base is the Capehart Store on the East Reservation. The facility is a mini extension of the BX and Shoppette, which includes gasoline and live bait. The Barksdale AFB Exchange revenue for 2006 was $58,542,827. The profit from these sales is returned to the base which uses the money to improve the quality of life services.
