If you answer YES to all of these questions, you're eligible for preferential consideration when you apply for a job with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service.
 
  1. Are you married to an active duty military member?
  2. Did you transfer with your spouse to a base or post within reasonable commuting distance of this exchange?
  3. Did you apply for work at the exchange up to 30 days before your sponsor's report date, or six months before your sponsor's tour ends?
  4. Have you told the Human Resources Office that you're eligible for spouse preference?
 

If you qualify for employment preference, your eligibility applies:

  • When you're referred for an interview as one of the top candidates for a position; spouse preference doesn't apply to reassignments or transfers from one position to another.
  • If you haven't been placed in or declined a position.
